“Run, run, as fast as you can. You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!”

Why I love your wedding photographs.

They say don’t work with kids or animals. I have no idea why. As a photographer I find children at weddings so entertaining. Generally find them hiding under tables, picking their nose during all the formal pictures and pulling the flowers from all the bouquets. You can guarantee though as soon as you see the moment and press the shutter on the camera. Voooooooooooom, they’ve moved on.

I love the amount of unpredictability children have. During weddings moments happen in the blink of an eye, with kids it’s even faster. It makes taking photographs of them even more of a challenge, but I like that challenge. It’s like a little competition, with myself. You don’t only need eyes in the back of your head but the sides too.

The reason I love this photograph from Sarah and Gavin’s teepee wedding so much is because it was such a fleeting moment.

All the page boys and flower girls were sat at the very front of the church on little cushions. The girls whispering and giggling throughout. The page boy was super shy. He was wearing the cutest bow tie but didn’t really like being photographed.
As the church was so tiny, during the readings I was sat on the floor in front of the children. As I turned round the little boy was waving his gingerbread man to tease his sister behind the bench. It made me laugh so much as I could imagine doing that when I was younger to my little brother. This was a split second moment as he was waving it up and down so fast.

A couple of seconds later and the poor gingerbread man was no more…
