Summer wedding at Combermere Abbey Estate

Combermere Abbey definitely holds a very special place in my heart and since I started my career as a wedding photographer has always been the answer to the question I get asked the most. Where would you like to get married? It’s an incredibly magical place on the Manchester / Cheshire border. I absolutely guarantee you’ll fall in love with the Combermere Estate as soon as you drive within the gates. It seems to transport you instantly into a world of private tranquility. For me it’s the place where dreams come to life especially when you’re creating everlasting memories.

Emily, the bride, I would describe as an English rose, but also like a little ray of sunshine, constantly beaming happiness it almost felt infectious. She got ready on the morning of her wedding day in the Gothic Stone Lodge on the entrance to the estate. It’s so secluded, private and calm. The perfect way to start your wedding day.

September is one of my favourite months of the year to photograph as the sun is always so much lower in the sky which is amazing for great photographs. As Emily walked from the luxurious cottages in her beautiful wedding dress, hand in hand with her father and immediate family the sun was shining through the walled gardens. The iconic walk through the fruit maze and pretty pathways to the Edwardian Glasshouse was delicately documented as she met her flower girls and daughter before the ceremony.

The wedding ceremony was held in the glasshouse, the doors wide open to the picturesque gardens as the sunlight flooded through the glasshouse. It really is such a memorable and enchanting setting to say your wedding vows. Following the perfectly personal ceremony all the wedding quests spilled out into the maze awaiting for the newly weds to follow through the confetti filled sky.

As the quests enjoyed fizz on the lawn in the beautiful sunshine we made the short drive down to the Abbey and lakeside for some incredible scenery and backdrops for their wedding portraits. I always love this short time with couples on a wedding day as I feel it’s nice for you to have some alone time to remember why you are here on this special occasion and it’s lovely to create some natural and romantic portraits that will take to back to feeling exactly how you felt in that moment on your wedding day. It’s all about creating the perfect memories for you to look back on and remember how you felt on your wedding day.

Moving into the elegant pavilion which was dressed with an array of flowers to really bring the outside in. The room looked magic and colourful with flowers filling the tables and draped from the ceiling, creating the most wonderful backdrop which also in turn smelt amazing. Capturing the wedding reception specifically the laughter, joy and emotion during the speeches in the enchanting space was just wonderful. As we entered the evening reception, the drapes were pulled back to reveal the star speckled dance floor where the guests could party into the night sky in a magical atmosphere.
